How chiropractor cracks neck

When a chiropractor “cracks” your neck, it’s a gentle procedure known as an adjustment. The “cracking” sound you hear is actually the release of gas bubbles from your joints, not bones shifting or crunching. These adjustments work to stimulate and mobilize the joints and muscles around your spine, aiming to relieve tension, improve your mobility, and enhance overall wellness. At Clover Chiropractic, we ensure your comfort and safety during every step of this process. Visit us to experience the benefits of chiropractic care for yourself.

What does a Chiropractor do?

What chiropractor is open today?

Our chiropractic clinic is open from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. We also offer appointments outside of these hours as needed. Feel free to schedule a visit to address your musculoskeletal concerns.

What is chiropractic?

Can anyone call themselves a chiropractor?

No, in the UK, it’s illegal for anyone to call themselves a chiropractor unless they are registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC). GCC no 0321 is for our lead Chiropractor, Dr Ben Bacon, of over 20 years experience. Clients tell us that he delivers, time and again.

Is there a typical patient that visits the Chiropractor?

Chiropractic is a healthcare profession that focuses on the diagnosis and management of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine. Treatment usually involve manual adjustments and manipulations of the spine.

Can you expand?

It’s not accurate to group all patients who visit our Chiropractors into a single category or demographic. However, here are some general tendencies that may apply to certain subgroups of patients:

  • People with musculoskeletal pain: Many patients seek Chiropractic care to alleviate pain in the back, neck, joints, and other areas of the body.

  • Athletes: Athletes may see a Chiropractor to help prevent or recover from sports-related injuries, improve performance, and maintain overall physical health.

  • Middle aged people with a history of long term pain: Seeking control or management of chronic conditions lead them to take up regular monthmy or two monthly adjustments to keep as well as possible. General wellness, much like for an athlete is really accessible to all.
  • Older adults: As people age, they may experience more chronic pain and other physical challenges that a chiropractor can help address.

  • Pregnant women: Pregnant women may see a chiropractor to alleviate back pain, improve posture, and promote a healthy pregnancy.

These are just a few examples, and it’s important to note that Chiropractors treat a wide range of patients, each with unique needs and circumstances.

What will happen when I visit a chiropractor?

During your first visit to a chiropractor, they will take a detailed relevant medical history and perform a physical examination, focusing on the spine and possibly other examinations, depending on your complaint. A plan tailored to your needs will then be discussed. With your full agreement, sessions will start immediately, assuming no x-rays or further tests are needed. The aim is to encourage your body to normalise and heal as quickly as it is capable of.

How many sessions do patients usually attend?

The number of sessions a patient or a client needs varies greatly depending on the individual’s condition, its severity, and their personal health goals. Some may require only a few sessions, while others with chronic conditions may need ongoing care.

What sort of response will I have to treatment?

Responses to chiropractic treatment vary. Some patients feel immediate relief, while others might experience Some people may also experience slight soreness, similar to that after exercise. It is usual to have a little temporary discomfort or tiredness before that relief kicks in.

Can I get chiropractic care on the NHS in Wales?

Wales is still deciding on this question. More areas in England do offer chiropractic care on the NHS, You should check with your local counsellor and Primary Care Trust or Health Board to see if this is an option for you.

Do I have to have an x-ray?

Not necessarily. Chiropractors, including our own, will only recommend an X-ray if there’s a valid clinical reason. They’re not part of routine chiropractic examination, and are used in accordance with the Ionising Radiation Regulations.

What can I do to reduce the amount of care I receive with you?

There are several steps that a patient or a client can take to reduce the amount of care you receive from us Chiropractors:

  1. Follow your chiropractors advice.

  2. Maintain a healthy lifestyle: Eating a nutritious diet, staying physically active, and getting enough sleep can all help to maintain a healthy body and reduce the risk of musculoskeletal problems.

  3. Practice proper posture: This is hard at the beginning as you have adapted over months or even years so your posture reflects your condition. Be gentle with yourself. Your chiropractor will help you adapt and improve through the sessions. Poor posture can lead to joint and muscle problems, so it’s important to be mindful of your posture and maintain good alignment throughout the day, whether you’re sitting, standing, or sleeping.

  4. Avoid repetitive movements: Repetitive movements, such as those performed at a desk or in front of a computer, can cause strain on the joints and muscles. Taking breaks and stretching regularly can help to reduce the risk of injury.

  5. Manage stress: Stress can have a negative impact on both physical and mental health, so it’s important to find ways to manage stress and maintain a positive outlook on life.

  6. Incorporate stretching and strengthening exercises: Regular exercise, especially stretching and strengthening exercises, can help to maintain joint and muscle health and reduce the risk of injury.

  7. Abide by advice from your Chiropractor when instructing exercise from our back pain prevention program.

It’s important to remember that these steps are intended to complement, not replace our Chiropractic care. Your Chiropractor can and will provide personalized advice and guidance on how to maintain optimal physical health and reduce the need for frequent visits.
